Information Technology Systems Administrator

Under limited supervision, responsible for the installation, availability, reliability, performance and maintenance of the Authority’s supported systems. This includes day-to-day management, operational support, upgrade and implementations, and long-term planning for systems including but not limited to Microsoft Windows Server platforms, and related software applications. Provides Tier 2 support to the organization. Works with IT staff in training employees on IT equipment, applications and procedures. Coordinates maintenance and ensures the proper operation of core systems and applications. Responds to emergency IT situations during off-hours as required. Reports to the Director of IT.

Requirements:

  • Requires a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or related degree, an Associates Degree in Electronics with five to seven years’ experience in an IT system or a High School Diploma with seven to ten years’ experience in IT systems.
  • Experience includes utilizing troubleshooting techniques and knowledge involving computers, networking, software, fiber optic networks, SCADA, security, communications equipment, radio frequency theory, and workstations.
  • Experience includes managing IT projects.
  • An in-depth, functional, broad-based knowledge of Windows based computer operating systems and networking.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and clearly with all departments and employees to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
  • Prefer two years of experience with maintaining governmental information systems in water/wastewater industry.
  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) certification required.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Starting Salary: $1,945.60 to $2,918.40 bi-wkly,(depending on qualifications), + great benefits package to include S.C. Water Operator II, III or IV

Under limited supervision, operates the Surface Water Treatment plant(s), ground water systems, and Aquifer Storage and Recovery systems in accordance with applicable SCDHEC regulations. Performs a variety of duties involving treatment plant operations, distribution systems operations, instrumentation calibration, equipment monitoring and preventative maintenance, and administrative tasks. During the off hours, monitors the operations of BJWSA’s wastewater treatment plants and collections systems using BJWSA’s Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) System.   Designated when necessary as Lead Operator and acts independently and autonomously during shift by performing higher degree of treatment functions. Requires shift work. Reports to the Chief Water Operator.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two to four years’ experience as an operator of a public water treatment facility.
  • Must possess a S.C. Class C, B or A (prefer class A) Surface Water Treatment Plant Operator Certification.
  • Requires a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to read and write, and perform basic arithmetic calculations. Must have the ability to operate a variety of equipment and instruments used in plant operations.       Must possess basic mechanic skills to perform equipment checks and preventative maintenance and complete instrument calibration.
  • Computer experience in Excel, Word and the ability to learn software used by BJWSA. Must possess or obtain training in confined space entry, work zone safety, HAZMAT safety, first aid/CPR and forklift operations.

Starting Salary: $17.43/hr to $21.62/hr, depending on qualifications + excellent benefits package to include S.C. Retirement System, 401k, generous leave programs, medical, dental, vision, life & disability insurance, an entrenched safety culture, developing wellness initiative, numerous employee recognition forums, extensive talent development opportunities, and a collaborative team and family type atmosphere.
